The much acclaimed stories included in this collection are Harilaxmi, Mahesh and Abhagir Swarga. The title story was first published in the Autumn 1332 issue of Basumati, Mahesh was published simultaneously in the [B] 1329 Ashwin issue of both Bangabani and PalliShri. The last story was initially published in the [B] 1329 Ashwin and Magh issues of Bangabani. Harilaxmi's Urdu translation Haridasi by Syed Nurul Huda was published in 1931.
