Puja 1999 Special

Durgotsav
  the Mother Of All Festivals

Bengal is the land of festivals. As the popular saying goes 'there are thirteen festivals in twelve months' in Bengal. But Durgotsav in autumn is the greatest of all. It is more than just a Hindu festival. The language, literature, music, art and every form of cultural activities achieve their zenith each year at this time. All people irrespective of their religious beliefs, castes or social or economic status wait for this auspicious and the most revered of occasions to arrive. For this millennium, Puja 99 thus assumes a very special significance for all.

Not only for people of the big metropolis like Calcutta and Dhaka, Durgotsav is celebrated at every remote corner of this land and beyond - on the other side of the seven seas wherever Bengalees live. We hope to bring the magic of Durga Puja to our visitors in its full glory and majesty.

With your involvement and help, we hope to enrich our visitors' experience by bringing to you pictures of Mundop, reports of cultural events, exchange of greetings and by publishing visitors' own experiences this year plus much much more. Just wait for it all!
